Understanding
The Correct Golf Swing

It's important to understand that there is a correct golf swing.

What I mean to say is that there are not dozens of different correct ways to swing a club. No, there's just one way.

What's more important: you can learn how it's done and that will automatically put more distance on your shots and cure your slices or hooks.

But how can I say that there is just one correct golf swing?

Well, if you look at photographs of professional golfers at the point of impact they all look the same: same leg position, same arm position, same head position.

You may get some slight variation in backswings, but from the top of the backswing all pro swings are basically the same.

So, what's in this correct golf swing? Well, it has three components: two movements and one connection.

  • First, let's deal with the connection which you get right when you address the ball and then maintain during the swing. You form this connection (between your body and the wrists) by putting your arms into a long triangle shape.

  • Second, there's the body turn. Simply turning your body correctly during backswing, downswing and follow through imparts some speed to the clubhead.

  • Finally, we have wrist hinge or 'hand action'. This is like a second gear which whips the clubhead through and is the real secret of speed and distance.

That's just a brief introduction of course. For further information please see David Blair demonstrating The Correct Golf Swing on his The Secret Of Golf DVD which contains 75 minutes instruction on the golf swing.
